Hello I have a fender strat mexico , I have put the hotrail in the bridge using the marshall jvm , but I need more attack when I am playing E string . Is there any way to do it ? I have put the bridge pickup as closer as I can to the strings .

Are you referring to pick attack, pickup output, or something else? Since you referenced your hot rails pickup I'm going to assume you're looking for a humbucking sound. Furthermore, are you referring to the high or low E string?

If it's a fuller sound you're looking for, I would roll back a little bit on the tone knob connected to your hot rails pickup (from 10 to about 7 or 6). Otherwise, pick attack is determined by the strength at which you pick as well as the angle of the pick. Let us know if you need more help or clarification.

Hey thank you and a happy new year. I mean the pick attack in the E low. I play metal and I feel that I loose attack when I play triplets in E low. I know that the guitar is not made for this but I enjoy the neck so much , adn due to tenoditis in my left arm , I like to play metal with fenders. I dont know if a more powerfull pickp will help , but I am not sure for that because hotrails is still a powerfull hb. The guitar is a mexico. I was thinking of replacing the tremolo with a challaham but I dont know !!!

I think that I pick the strings with enough strength as a metal player.

I would use a Boss overdrive it will increase the gain to your desired amount.
Most guitars and amps by themselves dont have enough output for metal.

Use a heavy pick and turn it up.

Then most likely a full sized High output humbucker and pickguard are your answer.
The Dimarzio Super Distortion or x2 maybe a Duncan Distortion or invader.

Aside from the pickup... which also feel would help for what you're looking for... how are you dialing in your tone?
You may want to go with a scooped middle type sound.... with very HIGH gain.

The other suggestion: Go with a High Gain amp head like a Dual Rectifier... 5150.... something along those lines... JCM's do get nice and saturated but... in my opinion they're more "old school". Better suited for blues rock... southern and classic rock unless you enhance the gain with some outboard dirt pedals and push the tubes over the top.
Rock on & Happy New Year!

What about your tone settings... anything going on there that may be stepping on the back end attack?

I think you should consider a pedal. Everything is better with a Spark Mini Boost.

ok I ll give a try.,.. I have a maxon od808 . I hope it will work. The problem with boosters is that you sacrifice the depth over tightness

sometimes having the pup "too" close to the string can be detrimental to tone and string
vibration. A string mag pup can actually dampen string vibe.
I have an SRV strat and the lower the pups the better the texas specials sound.

Just a thought
