for many years ive been using solid state amps.
would love to hear from other players that are using this combination.

I own three Deluxe Reverb Amps ('68, '78, '04), all with JBL speakers. They're superb amps -- one of Leo's most versatile designs.

I never use the pull-boost volume control feature but other than that, it performs and sounds very similar to my '68 edition. The custom cabinet I built for it with the 15-inch speaker is a significant improvement over a stock Deluxe Reverb.

Thanks Arjay
I've been reading about "recapping" i'm very new to the tube world.
Should recapping be done ?
at the gig last night....when I went off stand by mode , I noticed a little bit of crackle and pop . but the tubes got warm the noise went away. time for new tubes ? when I bought the amp it had been sitting for a while. I did clean the tube pins and that helped a lot.
thank you for your input

If you know nothing of the amp's servicing history it's likely in your best interest to have a qualified tech perform a full bench-check and inspect it overall for any geriatric issues.

You should start a new thread re this subject in the "vintage amp" section of the forum, where more amp enthusiasts will see it and -- hopefully -- provide more commentary.

Super.

Pics of your amp would be a big help -- exterior and interior if you can swing it. We'll be able to determine what's original, what's not, what looks wonky, what looks okay, etc.

Recapping an amp isn't something I would do just because I felt like it. A recap is a repair, not a customisation, as long as the amp isn't humming or making strange noises or clicks and bangs then I'd leave well alone. Changing the caps will change the sound of your amp, sometimes quite drastically. If it doesn't need doing then don't do it.
