This might raise a few eyebrows....but recently got hold of a 1989 standard strat that has been really battered and a really bad attempt by someone to turn it into a John Mayer blackie....I have removed the trem and unseized the saddles and removed loads of fingerboard poo and generally cleaned it all up.I have fret dressed it and got all the pots clean and restrung it...the body looks terrible really badlyssanded black and white spots of paint everywhere BUT,the body is really resonant and the guitar sounds huge....I will post pictures but what would you do.....VOTES PLEASE.... :D

I would strip it and give a thin coat of nitro.
