Far as I remember, Sperzels come in brushed chrome, black or gold only (though I stand to be corrected). If you want staggered pole pieces as well as locking mechanisms, Sperzels are what you must go for.

However, if it's just the locking system you need you can look at Schaller, Grover and Planet Waves, just off the top of my head. I expect Gotoh make a locker, too, and that would give you a large choice of finishes and buttons.

Thanks for the reply! I did some searches on those brand names and found the fender schaller ones in chrome... the reason i wasn't seeing them befor is because they were listed as "Fender Schaller Locking Tuners" for the brushed and "Fender Schaller Locking Machine Heads" for the chrome color.

I had one more question also, I'll try asking in the same post so not to clutter up rest of the board. First of I have two strats, I was going to put the locking tuners on the standard strat. Now the other strat I have has a Floyd Rose on it, it's got those vintage tuners on it with the slot in it, you can also see the screws that they are mounted with on the back of the headstock. If I was to put the old ones from the standard strat on there would it cover the screw holes? If anyone has does this thanks for any imput!

Simplest way to do this, go to this page and start searching around amongst the various tuners:

http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/Guit ... uners.html

When you go to the page of a specific tuner model, scroll down, and you'll notice various tabs you can click. The tab called "pictures" will give you nice big photographs of the tuner in question; the tab called "specs" will give you a measured diagram of the tuner, so you can see exactly what's what.

You will notice that each manufacturer has a different arrangement of screws; some, don't have a screw but have a pin that goes into a small hole you have to drill in your peghead. These screws or pins are in different places depending on the manufacturer and the model.

Be aware that Stewart-MacDonald don't stock all models of all manufacturers, so check out www.wdmusic.com too.

Tricky, ain't it?

Personally, if those vintage-type tuners you have with the Floyd work OK, I'd leave them well alone. After all, once you're tuned to pitch you lock everything down anyway.
