Hi First post.

Looking for some help from the forum folk.

I just purchased (on ebay) The new 2008 American Standard Strat body. Does the microtilt adjustment option require a special type of neck? IE I want to use a standard 4 bolt Fender neck I have already with this body. I understand the microtilt raises the butt end of the neck to replace the old shimming way of doing it. Does my neck need some kind of metal barrier to protect the wood from the microtilt? My neck is all wood at the butt.

Does this make any sense?

Thanks

Yes, it does make sense and, yes, necks fitted to Strats with the micro-tilt system do have a little metal cap inset into them where they meet the micro-tilt. Not quite sure whether it would matter if it wasn't there, but I'm thinking it might.

I'd post you a pic, but my Strat is set up very nicely right now with a new set of bullets, and I'm not quite inclined to break it down, just at present. Take a look at the clickable picture on this page and you'll get the idea:

Yes there is a steel button there screwed to the heel of the neck to provide a hard surface for the adjusting screw to move the neck; the button had to be there otherwise the screw would just gouge into the wood of the neck. It is countersunk into the wood and held with a wood screw.
