Hi,
I'm new to the Fender Forum.

I would requiere some help identifying my 2007 USA HSS Strat that I bought last Summer from an Italian music shop.
Here are some pictures

First of all I would like to know from which "series" this guitar is.
Secondly, I would like to knwo where I could find the specifics of this guitar.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Best regards,

Gijs (from belgium)

It looks like a Highway One.
White pickguard and all black pickups seems unusual. Have the single coil pickups been changed?

Anyhow, if you e-mail Fender support with the serial number, they should be able to look up the info.

Post-2006 humbucker-equipped HWY1s came with a white guard and black pickup covers/plastic parts.

Amber was not a colour option for the revised series.

I have the 2005 version of that amber Hwy 1, with white plastics.

Even though Fender did discontinue the amber color for 2007 it wouldn't surprise me if they still were producing them early in the year. They wouldn't include a color they were planning on discontinuing in a printed catalog but they would still be making/shipping them to fulfill orders submitted before the color was discontinued. I don't think Fender would say "Sorry Guitar Center, we aren't going to ship you those 100 amber HSS Highway 1 Strats you ordered in November after all because we decided not to put that color in our January catalog".

Hi,
Thanks for all your replies.
So based on your feedback, I could conclude that it is a Highway One.
I've also send an email to Fender Support and waiting for their reply.

What wonders me though, is the fact that the guitar is very heavy in comparison to my HWY 1 - 2004 Tele and my Japanese Strat of 93.

Hi,

Received additional information from Jeff of the Consumer relations Dpt.

Quote:
Serial Z7020383 comes back as the Highway One HSS Stratocaster in Flat Black from 03/2007, made in the US. The color definitely doesn't match, so, it could be a matter of the previous owner having refinished that piece. The pickup covers were originally black, so the color seems to be the only thing not matching up!

As far as I can tell a refinishing is not the case ... So, it's a bit of a mystery.
So I've asked Jeff if the remark of John C is a valid possibility.

It's likely possible someone dropped the pickguard from a flat black post-2006 HWY1 into an amber pre-2006 HWY1 HSS body then put that post-2006 neck on it.

Amber was a colour option for the HWY1 HSS in 2004/05.

Looks like a partscaster assembled from two HWY1 HSS Strats: neck, pickguard and hardware from a post-2006 and an amber body from a pre-2006.

If it had come from the factory with the amber body Fender's Consumer Relations would have verified it as such.

I agree with chromeface; it's probably a parts guitar with a 2007 Highway 1 neck (from a flat black one as verified by Jeff at Fender) attached to a 2003-2006 Highway 1 HSS body in amber.

Ive recontacted Jeff and asked:

Could the remark below posted on the forum be a possibility ?

Jeff replied:

That remark is a definite possibility.
But, the serial you provided is attached specifically to a black guitar. If this was part of a previous order filled after a discontinuation date, it would still be slated as an Amber finish.
It is possible that the neck was swapped onto an Amber body of the same series at some point, however.
