I have an American Standard Olympic White Strat which I put a mint green pickup to give that "vintage look" but, I'm getting tired of the looks so looking for some options.

What's a great alternate for the usual mint green or white combination with my Strat? I'm thinking a blue pickguard but I cannot find any photo on the net how it would look like. I also notice a lot of those using the pearl brown look...

Any advice? =) Thanks!

How about a gold anodized guard? then you don't need to shield it either.

I'm partial to the tortoise on white. It has a very classy look to it. However, recently I saw an Olympic white strat (w/ maple neck) that had a flat white pickguard. The owner switched out the knobs and pickup covers with this translucent neon orange plastic, giving it a very eye-catching look.

Also, have you ever thought about painting over a pickguard? I'm not an artist, but with some painter's tape, spray-paint, and a few good brews in my belly, I can be pretty artsy-fartsy. And if I can do it, surely anyone can!

You have so many options with Olympic White. 8) Post some pics later!

Sorry, those remind me too much of bathrooms. Especially when combined with chrome.

I'd go with that one or black.

Pearloid & tortoiseshell looks on pickguards have also looked cheap to me.
I know that's just me, and not everybody--but that's how it looks to me.

How do you know? People's postures and stances differ quite a bit.

Some of us do indeed look at the front of the guitar every now and then. Perhaps especially when we want to pull some pinch harmonics, or set a knob to a specific position, but sometimes even when playing normally.
