Birdseye is entirely possible. I have seen a couple with of guitars from that era with it. As for the serial number it is a six digit number starting with 25XXXX. Each one of these guitars came with a certificate with a date of manufacture. The serial number itself does not have a date code built into it. You'll need the certificate or take the neck off and look for a date.

i will try to ask a person who is selling to take a picture of the neck number, but for exemple on this auction i can see nine digit number:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1979-VINTAGE-FE ... 7675.l2557

and what it should mean to me ?

It looks like the auction has now ended and your question is moot.

That guitar looked exactly like the 25th Ann'y model I once owned.

If you're talking about how to read that code number stamped on the end of the neck, this website:

http://www.strat-central.com/70sstrats/

has some good info on how to decode them.

So for that guitar in the completed eBay auction the number looks like: 0902 4991

Based on the website I linked to it would decode as:

First 2 digits are the model; 09 = Stratocaster
Next 2 digits are the fingerboard; 02 = maple fingerboard
Next 2 digits are week of manufacture; 49 = 49th week of the year (the first week of December)
Next digit is the last digit of the year; 9 = 1979
Last digit is the day of the week; 1 = Monday

So that neck was made for a Stratocaster, it has a maple fingerboard, it was made on the Monday of the 49th week of 1979.

Checked the catalog that contained that guitar, a Maple neck says nothing about Birdseye. They had six digit serial numbers stating with 25 and they made 10,000 of these. Available Metalic Silver or Pearl White.

Ok now some history on this guitar. Most of the first batch of 500 Pearl White were returned to Fender to be refinished because the finish severely crack soon after.

+1

Only a handful of examples in the original Pearl White have survived and I've only personally seen one. Mine was silver, like the lion's share of the production run.
