I need some help trying to wire a HSH strat so I can have the normal strat pickup wiring configuration, BUT with the flip of a switch or whatever I need to use, have the wiring of a les paul ie no middle pickup. I've been thinking on it and I have an idea, but I'm not sure about it. I was told once that all I'd need is a super switch, but I dont see how just a super switch would do both without some sort of toggle switch and if all it takes is the addition of a toggle, then I dont need the super switch. If anyone has any Ideas I'd sure appreciate the help.

oh and I also want the full humbucker both ways. no coil tapping at all either way. I've found plenty that coil taps, basically having a 3 single coil strat, and a 2 humbucker les paul, but I prefer the full bridge humbucker with the middle pu sound, and the full neck humbucker with middle sound over all single coils. so a way to keep both humbuckers untapped at all times is what I'm after. I just want to eliminate the middle pickup for that middle position les paul sound. thank again for any help

Why not going for HHH? Put a hotrail humbucker in the middle and get the versatility of both worlds in your fingertips!

Quick reply: try swapping the middle single coil and neck humbucker at the 5-way selector switch.

The obvious question here is what do you want to happen when the middle pickup is selected but the toggle is off? With a simple on/off you'd get zero output.

I'd do this as a 3-way lever switch to select Bridge/Neck+Bridge/Neck like a Telecaster then simply add a toggle to switch the middle pickup on in any position.

EDIT: Reading your post again, why wouldn't standard Strat switching with a 5-way lever do the job? B/B+M/M/M+N/N ... although you'd be missing the "all pickups on" setting. If you feel that's really inportant then a superswitch will do the job for you.

Is this what you are trying to do? This needs a Super Switch.

HSH with S-1 for Strat or Fat Strat Type Switching
5-Way Switching:

S-1 Up:

1. Bridge Inside Coil
2. Middle & Bridge Inside Coil
3. Middle
4. Middle & Neck Outside Coil
5. Neck Ouside Coil

S-1 Down:

1. Bridge Humbucker
2. Bridge Humbucker & Middle
3. Neck & Bridge Humbuckers
4. Neck Humbucker & Middle
5. Neck Humbucker

Second post says he's not bothered about coil taps, I'd just use a superswitch or a 5-way with standard wiring.

If I understand you correctly it is easy, especially if you're not wanting coil splitting on the humbuckers.

1: Bridge
2: Bridge and Middle
3: Neck and Bridge :?: (Instead of the standard Strat middle pickup selection)
4: Neck and Middle
5: Neck

You need a single wafer 2-pole, 5-lug super switch:

If this is what you are seeking I can give you the part number and the wiring schematics. Just let me know and I will post them. But I don't want to go through all that work if this is not what you're looking for. :D
