Thanks - I had been looking at bodies and was worried about what to do with the battery (under the guard vs by the springs etc).....when this body came up on ebay UK....:D

Is that finish Candy Apple Red? Hard to tell. As a second thought, you might also have found yourself one of the recent CAR '57VRI Strat LTD's as a platform for the DG-20. My preference because of the V-neck.

Yes - It's CAR.

The only red they did was CAR for these models back in '97. The neck I have on is from a Classic Player 50's and is a soft V profile.

CAR is a bit clearer on these - you can see the gold undercoat on the first :

The body is routed for a bridge humbucker. I would replace the SA bridge pickup with an 85 humbucking pickup and keeping the neck & middle pickups stock. You'll get more crunch while soloing.

Why would I want to do that?

The point was to make a Stratocaster clone like Gilmour's Red - putting in a Humbucker (and a new pickguard) would totally ruin that vibe....plus I use a Boss GT-100 so crunch is not an issue

....and the pickups were expensive enough without buying more!

:)

Oh, it's just an opinion.

Dave played a Charvel San Dimas with a single EMG 85 humbucker circa 1984/85.

Having an HSS configuration gives the flexibility of both worlds.
