I saw the story about how that guitar was left on a plane, the pilot took it home and it had been stored away for ages. Pretty cool story.

That doesn't look like the same guitar. The one on the left has lighter fretboard wood from the 16th fret up, while the one on the right has lighter color around the 9th-10th fret, where the left one is pretty dark.

An easier to spot difference is how far the dark part of the sunburst extends where it meets the bottom of the pickguard and the jack.

A. No he is George Wein, founder of the Newport Folk Festival and chairman of the Newport Festival Foundation, with the infamous 'Dylan Goes Electric' guitar.

My question would be, why was it not returned to Bob when it was discovered on the plane?

"After trying to return the items to Dylan’s manager, Albert Grossman, Quinto held onto the guitar and lyrics until 2011,"

Estimated at $300,000 to $500,000, this guitar was in the possession of a New Jersey family for nearly 50 years after Dylan left the guitar on a private plane, flown by the family’s father, Vic Quinto. A collection of lyrics, including early drafts of “Absolutely Sweet Marie,” “Medicine Sunday,” “Jet Pilot” and “I Wanna Be Your Lover,” was also left on the plane. After trying to return the items to Dylan’s manager, Albert Grossman, Quinto held onto the guitar and lyrics until 2011, when his daughter, Dawn Peterson, brought the guitar onto the PBS show History Detectives, where it was authenticated.

Check out the History Detectives episode where they authenticated it--the grain on the fingerboard is the same--those pictures are a bit difficult to use on a computer to make that determination.
They found clear pictures from Newport and they match.

It would interesting to learn of the buyer. Thought it might be Guitar Center but I'm holding out for Paul Allen. In that case, the guitar might wind up at The Experience Music Project in Seattle. Also a possibility would be The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum.
