Hello all

i am very happy with my new - second hand fender Stratocaster from 1995 which recently i acquired.

i have placed new strings on it and i saw that the fret nr.5 on the fret board is a bit marked and when you do slide up or slide down the string is caught a bit on the fret.

the question is can a single fret be changed? and if yes where?

thx in advance

It sounds like the frets are ready for a fresh dressing. Any competent luthier can handle that job -- such work shouldn't cost more than forty or fifty bucks.

Replacing a single fret only is a risky proposition -- it would be more prudent to save the existing fret if possible.

Frets don't need replacing anywhere near as often as some people think. Often all that's needed is to recrown and polish the fret.

Only when you've got deep grooves from playing wear do you really have to do any kind of refret, most of the time a crown and polish is sufficient.
