just got a good deal on a pre-owned strat- hand-rubbed finish. I believe this is a guitar center special run. I am digging it so far, but have a few questions.

1- what should I use to clean this guitar? don't know if the finish requires a different cleaning/polish regimen.

2- the bridge is pretty much flat to the body. I don't use the trem bar a lot, but would like to get a little action out of it. when I looked thru the back trem cover, the holes where the strings went thru are not visible. when I took the cover off, it looks like the springs were tightened down quite a bit.

I am planning to put 10's on it. I am assuming I need to loosen the spring tension, and do a setup as well. any other advice?

If you're changing string gauges, it may be necessary to re-adjust the bridge saddles for correct height and intonation.

....check truss rod ( neck bow )

Why saddles height ? Bottom of the new strings will be a same distance from the fret board if neck curve still same.

Yes, do the above mentioned.
For cleaning:
Have had very good results using Murphy's Oil Soap (for the body, neck and fingerboard). Cleans off the skank, does not leave any type of "buildup" on the finish. Have done this for years with absolutely no adverse effects on Nitro, Poly or had rubbed finishes. Lots of folks like to use a Naptha cleaner (lighter fluid etc...). not for me... yeah they work but, too caustic a cleaner IMO.
Enjoy your Guitar!

For cleaning I use Dunlop65
