I play in a W&P band, and was using my '98 Am Std. Strat at practice last night. It's natural with a nice wood grain and maple neck - a real beauty. I was once again marveling at the range of this guitar. Sweet cleans, gritty lead tones, to heavy fuzz through my EH Big Muff Pi.

Even though I'm waiting on a CS order, I get tempted to add an Am Se to the herd, as I hear they are even better than the Am Std. For many years I played other guitars, but since '92 I feel like the Strat is THE guitar!

Keep up the good work!

I've got a 2005 American Standard I bought about a year ago. I absolutely love it. I replaced the bridge pickup with a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails. I'm looking to put some Lace Sensors in the middle and neck positions. I traded in a cheap Gretsch Synromatic and a Parker P38. I got my Strat for only $50 after the trade-in. I can't believe it took me so long to finally get a Strat. I doubt I'll play anything else.

I've got a 1999/2000 3-tone sunburst American Standard Strat w/ a maple neck that I bought in the spring of 2000, right before the American Series debuted. I got Texas Specials in the neck and middle and a SD hot rails pickup at the bridge. I've had the frets replaced once, and the guitar has never let me down since. The pickup combination sounds awesome, going from hard rock to smooth blues at a flick of the switch, and the larger frets I had installed just make the notes sing. I've thought about buying a '62 Am Vintage strat, but I haven't done so because I realize that my current strat always gets the job done. Long live the American Standard Strat!
