Hi people!

I've found an offer. the seller doesn't know if it's original Fender or fake. He claims that the serial number starts with 'SG', which seems to be strange to me. I didn't found such serial number on the website.

The guitar looks like hardtail, but it has 22 frets. It's devastated but i believe skilled luthier is able to do the magic.
There's a phrase written on the neck: "Fender Stratocaster Made in U.S.A. [serial number SG*****] Musical Custom body instrument" and "F made in USA" on the neckplate.

Based on the meager evidence given, it appears to be a fake. The serial number alone leaves doubt in my mind, plus the twelfth fret dot spacing, 22 frets, cast saddles, body forearm relief, all look wrong.

Dig that super-high action!

My educated guess from these two pics, fake based on the neck.

Bridge looks cheap and nasty, single ply pickguard isn't common on authentic Strats, body shape just looks wrong, finish is HORRIBLE. I won't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

As a general rule if the seller claims not to know if a guitar is real or fake then it's safe to assume it's a fake.

Good grief, I didn't even notice that. I think what we have here is skip filler.

+1

And take a look at that squared-off neck heel!

As phony as our CIC's birth certificate, I'm afraid.

It looks like it was made by someone who has never seen a Stratocaster but has often heard them described.
