Dan Electro guitars have a distinct sound that is all their own. I dont like them myself but even Jimi played one before.

Hey Donny: many of my favourite players have used Danos now and again. They're cool and I'm not bashing them in the slightest. But just saying that with a Danelectric nobody is going to claim it's the tonewood that's making the guitarist sound good...

Cheers - C

Good point. What big star used a Hondo or other budget or copy guitar?

Jeff Healey played a Squier.
I remember seeing Bachman-Turner Overdrive playing copies back in the day.
Jimmy Page played a cheapo towards the end of Zeppelin.
David Lindley plays various pawn shop type cheapest.

That's all I can come up with now.

Link Wray played a Hondo. Maybe not that big a star/artist
but significant.

My Hondo M-16 has DiMarzios, Grovers and a Kahler with
a neck through - funny how they used American parts even
though made in Japan.

Every Fender dealer I know has at least a couple of Select Strats on the wall, some have many. So in a shop you'll be able to demo all the guitars you're talking about side-by-side and find out which does the trick for you.

Thank you for the advise! I'll do my best!

...On the other hand, I think the Selects are just gorgeous. That's largely cosmetic, of course. But if I had the cash in my pocket and one of those babes in my hands I wouldn't be leaving the store without it, that's for sure. Can't be quantified, but the lustful feelings you can have towards a guitar sometimes affect how you play it. That's totally subjective and personal, of course.

That's exactly my point they look amazing but I don't want to get fooled by appearances.
I have a tendency to get overexcited by looks on a guitar!

For the little it's worth, the couple of Selects I've handled sounded just fine to me: completely authentic and Stratty. But we will all make up our minds differently on these things.

That's good to hear! I really wanted to hear something like this because I just fell for the looks and ...well...looks sometimes are just looks..but it's hard sometimes to get over simple things like this and I may forget to listen!:))

Take the trip and try 'em in person, that's my view. And then buy the one you like from the real shop, rather than a webpage. Keep music live.

Thank you again for the advice!

By the way do you have experience with Custom Deluxe Stratocaster® 2013? Sound quality-wise does a 2013 Custom Deluxe Stratocaster® sound different from a Standard American Stratocaster (because the pickup's are the same)?
I know quality-wise(materials,quality of electronics...) there are BIG differences but I would really want to add some $ if the Custom Shop offer's allot more!
The only complain and it might sound stupid but the Stratocaster Amer. Standard looks..well..dull compared to models like Select and Custom-Shops!
Could you offer some advice please on Custom Shop's?
I know I'm jumping from one model to another but for me there are BIG differences that matter even if the price is over 4k!(I'm not thinking of going over 4.5 k that's my upmost limit).
