I have a Fender Standard Stratocaster SSS and I was thinking about changing the bridge pickup to a humbuck pickup but I am afraid cutting wires because I don't want to make permanent changes to my guitar. Is there a way of changing a pickup with out cutting wires or doing any serious changes to my guitar? I'm still new to electric guitars.

Buy a desolder pump, it'll allow you to remove soldered-on components by melting the solder and sucking it out of the joints.

I'd like to add, it's only bad for your guitar if

A: the pickups suck (And by suck i mean they produce a tone other than what YOU were hoping for. ) and/or

B: you don't know what your doing.

Practice your soldering/desoldering skills before you tear your guitar apart. Lots of useful info on YouTube.

Otherwise have at it all you want.

Desolder Wick is easy to use, just lay the copper wick on the solder and touch the iron to it and the solder will be sucked right up into the wick webbing. Cost 3 to 4 dollars for a wick roll. I use NTE Wicks.

Never tried a wick. I use a SILVERSTAT AS196. It works quite well.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Make sure you unsolder from your tone switch and I don't know if you know they make a single size humbucker pickup that fits in the single coil pickguard. What pickup are you wanting?

A: It can be very bad for your wallet and/or bank account.
