Hello community,

I recently bought a second hand fender Stratocaster from a local music shop here in UK and It was sold to me as US made fender. It has 2 humbuckers and S1 switch and I really love the tone variations. The problem is I do not know what model it is and I am beginning to suspect if it really is US Made Fender Stratocaster. Particularly when I opened the back, there's HHO letters scribbled on it and there are signs of old screw wholes.

I could use some help. If the community feels it is not genuine, then I'll ask the shop to give me back few hundreds of £.

If the community feels it is the real strat model, then it'll be a huge relief.

other pictures can be found at http://www.flickr.com/photos/amilmagpantay as it will not let me post any more URLs

thank you all very much. I could really use some advice as I am no expert :(

It does look like the Trem Block has been taken out and replaced with a cheaper zinc MIM model. Otherwise, looks like a fine US made guitar.

I'm thinking American Deluxe, but the HH configuration is a question mark for me.

That model was called something like the "American HH Strat".

This model came out roughly in mid-2003 (maybe August/September) as a replacement for the "American Series Double Fat Strat" - the "American Strat HH" had Fender humbuckers (sorry, I don't remember the "cute" name Fender gave them) and along with the "American Strat HSS" were the first two Strats to use the S-1 switching. The "American Strat HH" was discontinued either in late 2006 or fairly early in 2007 - it had been discontinued a while before the "American Series" models were replace by the "new" American Standard models at the start of 2008.

The previous model - the "American Double Fat Strat" was made from July 2000 until that August/September 2003 time frame; it had Duncan humbuckers (a '59 neck and Pearly Gates + bridge) and predated the S-1 switching. The "American SeriesDouble Fat Strat" itself had replaced the "Big Apple Strat" when the American Series replaced the original American Standards - the production "Big Apple Strat" had the same Duncan pickups.
