Hello all, I'm in need of some help with my stratocaster. I play a classic vibe 60s strat that I've modified and now looks a lot like the fender SRV strat. I'm pretty pleased with the sounds I'm getting from it (even through a frontman 212r that I will hopefully be replacing soon) especially with the middle and neck pickups. I find the bridge pickup very harsh however and I'd like to make it more of a manageable sound to use. My guitar has the standard configuration of tone knobs right now- the top one controlling the neck pickup and the bottom one controlling the middle pickup. What I'd like is to have the bottom tone control the bridge pickup and the top tone control both the middle and neck pickups.
First of all, is this even possible? Would this configuration change my guitar's tone at all when both the tones are wide open? If it's possible, how would I go about doing it? I'm a total noob at soldering but I'm pretty sure there is an iron laying around somewhere and I'd like to learn how to work with guitar electronics. Please let me know! Thanks.

Yes, you can do this. No, does not compromise your "Tone" in any way. It's a simple mod. You need to run a jumper over to the Bridge position of the toggle. Do a Google search or two and you'll find a schematic. You'll have no prob doing it.

before you dig into the guitar try to overdrive the amp and switch to the bridge pup and back the volume down to 8 or 9. you might be suprised at the difference in the tone and just how much distortion you still have. backing down the volume will stop some of the top end harshness and bring up a bit of "bass" to the sound without the tone control.
