This guitar is throwing me for a loop. The body looks like a strat but I have never seen a Fender headstock that looked like this. The guitar is supposedly 30 years old based on the serial number on the headstock but I have to wonder if someone transferred a Fender decal to a different neck/headstock and then put it on this guitar? There is a serial number below the Fender logo of S732327. Thanks for any help!

I truly doubt it, Fender has a signature head wich they sued plenty of people for I don't think they'd go and just change it like that.

Fender has build some exotics in the past but I don't think that they copy the Jackson headstock.

I'd say that this is not a Fender. Looks like an old home brew. Very cool all the same!

Sure, it could be a Fender, Fender Japan. That serial number looks like a mid-'90s Japanese Serial Number, not a 1977 American Serial Number.

Fender used similar headstocks on their ~1990 HM Series Strats:

The HM's were gone by 1995, but Fender Japan has made a lot of odd ball models over the years (for the Japanese market only).

That logo decale looks legit to me.

Fender may have change the headstock for the HM Strat, but:

1. That headstock isn't an HM.

2. Fenders don't have truss rod covers, especially not big ugly hacked pyramid truss rod covers.

3. Those tuners are a joke.

I'd guess that as a fake.

Fender? I'm not sure. Japan built? no doubt about it. Those tuners and that headstock looks EXACTLY like the mid 80's FS series by Aria Pro II. Ebony fb, looks like the pg may have been changed. FS series by Aria Pro II. They came in Black and Vintage White.

Fender has done some other headstocks. Image search the '80s Performer, for example. Amongst others.

But I've never seen one like that. The Aria with a pirate decal sounds a sure bet.

That is assuming that it is a real headstock with the real serial # on it.

Scroll down, there should be a Korean version of that Guitar. If not Japanese, maybe Korean?

Weird thing is he's asking 850.00 for that one, I paid $80.00 (usd) for the Black version.

That looks dead on to what we have here. Now with that said he might be able to take the pickguard off and see if it is made of plywood. Aria is known for that
