Hi guys, im looking to buy my first CS Fender i have a few fenders already but after playing some lovely CS ones I'm not in the market!
I have seen this one on the internet which looks lovely but i feel the price is a little high can anyone offer some advice or possibly experience with this actual model?

Check my math here...2750 Sterling is almost $4500.

I would be concerned about spending that much on a guitar if it was actually from the early 1960s. This is clearly not, with average contemporary pickups and a ruined finish over a nice finish, all made up to look older than it is.

(OK...I have an opinion on relic finishes)

If I had a budget like that, I'd be looking somewhere other than limited-run CS models.

I'm just sayin...you can probably spend less and get a better guitar...imho.

Cheers.

I think the price is a bit on the high side, but there aren't going to be that many of this model for sale, if you really want it. Make an offer at a lower price and see how you get on.
Here's a similar one for sale in the US, and it's cheaper, but remember that with shipping costs, import duties etc, it could easily cost as much as the UK one.

To me it's like the BMW Mini or the new VW Beetle. It's reminiscent of a '60s Strat without actually being one.

Med Jumbo frets, Texas Special Pups, modern 'C' neck, 3-ply PG and most of all the Custom Shop logos on the Neckplate and back of the Headstock are dead giveaways that it's not the genuine article.

If that's your kinda thing, go for it. Lots of 'bling', you'll fool 85% of the people into thinking it's really old, and impress many others w/ the CS logo.

At least I hope so... what else are you getting for your $4,500USD ??

You said:"...i feel the price is a little high ...", to me that's an understatement.

Nothing against re-issues, own one myself. But my '57, while not a direct clone, certainly makes more of a nod to the era w/ it's 'V' neck, standard hand-beveled pups, single-ply PG, than this CS '60.

But, I didn't buy it because it was an AVRI, or that I wanted to vicariously return to the days of Buddy, Ritchie or Dick Dale. I bought it because it felt, played and sounded the best of all the Stratocasters I liked at the time of purchase.

At $4,500USD, you need to know how it feels and plays before you buy !! You better like it because it's a private sale and the seller states No Returns !

Then there's the whole Relic thing, a passing fad IMHO. Even the Custom Shop cannot add genuine wear, not at least until they hire 25 Juans to play each example for 10,000 hrs. and haul it to and from their homes each day w/o a case. Even then, the wear is artificial. I realize lots of people like the Relics, and everyone gets an opinion. Mine is that they just scream 'Poseur'* !

If the day ever comes where I can justify the cost of a Custom Shop guitar (and showing off the CS Logo to my friends isn't one of them), I want the shiniest, cleanest, most wonderful example they can make. Then I'll care for it so that it doesn't end up looking relic'd, not like one which looks as if it were left out in the desert for 2 years.

But hey, that's just me. :D

cheers!

I've been looking at the same model and doing a little research. For some reason they charge more with that "double" finish. For a regular reliced finished used '60 CS Strat I wouldn't pay more than $2500 US and I'd really have to like that particular guitar. For one with that special finish maybe $3000 tops? Good luck.

If you go to the custom shop area of the main site you can download the quote sheet and see what each option costs you.

I have a 60 relic and it is superb, mine came with quite a mixed spec and is more of a 60s greatest hits

It's a 60, with a mid 60s neck, two cs 69s in the middle and neck and a Texas special in the bridge. I couldn't have spec'd it better myself
