My '79 Antigua.
Very few original stuff on her except for the body, neck , tuners, and pickguard.
Pickups, frets, and saddles have been changed.........for the better I might add!
It's collector value is shot to hell.....but...it's a much better guitar now!!

It's a guitar, it's meant to be played, no offense but why the hell would you care about the resale value unless you stash guitars for 30+ years and then sell them on ebay?

My days of selling instruments are long over. I've regrettably sold some nice pieces over the years!
My collection of 13 guitars are ALL working/well played instruments!
I just get a little miffed when I see less clean, beat up Antiguas in Guitar Center going for 3 grand!
I love my Antigua....it was my first "real" Stratocaster.....but out of my 13 guitars....it is the least played.....and I would happily/bittersweetly let it go for that amount of cash!!
Heresy be damned.....I would spend that 3 grand on a nice Gibson Les Paul...........one of the pieces I sadly sold all those years ago...... :(

That '79 Antigua looks beautiful mate!, I played an original 1977 Fender Strat that was Cherry Red, it is a 3 bolt so could it be older? I played Deep Purple and tried to do some Yngwie style shredding but I sucked :D

Hope no one was around. You'd have shot down your slowly building charisma. Now that you've seen that '53 prototype, of which there has been much discussing herein during past years, you can return to the woodpile and refrain from 'shredding' until you've become a serious head of cabbage.

I expect that this one is early '58 because the phase over to the 3-tone began that year. Mine was a November build date and had a very subtle red band in it which was lovely. Later on they became too intense. BTW: Notice the way that 6th string is lying. It's not just camera angle. I had the same problem with my guitar and it was chronic on Strats of that period. The string practically falls off the neck above the 12th fret.

My 1969 Strat, was originally Sunburst, sometime in the 70's was stripped and painted Black, and I got it and stripped the Black so now it is natural. I don't play it much as my modern Strat, it has bad frets and it needs a good setup as it has been in a closet for 25+ years, so I was thinking of selling it, or trading it for a Gibson  (yeah the "other brand) lol, but I think I'd have a hard time giving it up
