Get a Tele.

I second that idea!! Get an am deluxe Tele and be done.

I appreciate your passion for Telecasters. They can be fantastic instruments for those who are comfortable with them. My '93 Tele-Plus was a beautiful and awesome rock and roll guitar. This was not a country Tele by any stretch. It had a gorgeous natural finish, a blue Lace at the neck, and Red Dually at the bridge. six Am Std saddles, and that fantastic coil splitting circuit. I even liked the neck and the med-jumbo frets. But...............I was not comfortable playing that guitar.

I traded the guitar up for a '93 EC Stratocaster.

Fifty years of Stratocasters can make one set in his ways with respect to that offset waist design and the comfortable arm support it gives. THAT was Leo's intent.

What's the solution?

Have the Custom Shop reincarnate that Tele into a Strat.

The Stratocaster is an early example of ergonomic design. It was carefully and painstakingly derived to be what is came to be. It is a bold statement which has witheld the test of time and has won countless awards for such.

It is said that 'The best form of flattery is imitation. So it has been with the 'strat' body.

The best attempt at an off-set waist design for the Telecaster pales in the light of its successor.

Fellow Guitarists,

I am looking to purchase a new guitar, but am finding most of them have whammy bars, a part of the guitar I do not use with my style of playing.

Any idea which Fender would be a good way to go with out emptying the bank?

While it wouldn't be authentic there are shops (under lic. from Fender) on the net that would build a hardtaill for you... you can get the body made and finished to your desire and add what ever you like....I had a 70s hard tail and loved how it stayed in tune while my room mate struggled all the time with his....

Roger that! However, if my memories serve me, these vendors are going to be a bit pricey. Warmoth, and the other vendor located in California, will price out into the 1.5-2.5K range I expect.

Best to prowl a great many guitar stores, pawn shops and even search EBay.
