I have had 3 strats since 2001 with Modern C necks. The last one I sold was a 2008 model with a maple board. Couldnt bond with the necks at all. Decided to swear off Modern Cs until my latest one. I bought a 2013 model with a maple board (American Standard). It is one of the most comfortable and fastest necks I have played probably ever. It is a Modern C, but it feels a tad thicker than any of the other ones I have had or played. Most of the others felt too thin. Fact or fiction? What say you ?

.830" depth at 1st fret
.870" depth at 12th fret

budglo......my experience as well. I recently sold a beautiful 2008 American Strat with a rosewood Modern C .....for the same reasons. I was cruising through the local GC a few weeks ago, grabbed a 2013 American and was pleasantly surprised....a totally different feel. Narrower, and more of a V shape.

Yep. My other ones felt like a plank in my hands. Thin and wide, but my 2013 feels like it has more girth to it.

Pull 4 American Standards off the wall and play them. See if they all feel the same. Remember there's is some hand-sanding finishing on all these wood parts and they do NOT all look the same when turned upside down.   [..or feel the same either.]
