Who out there would like to see some new colors offered on the Eric Clapton Strat?
I sure would. How about Daphne Blue or 2 tone sunburst or perhaps bring back 7up Green for a limited run? Other than the Custom Shop version the same colors have been in use on the EC for a very long time. Come on Fender give us some new colors. Give Eric a call and see what he thinks.
Here's another idea how about a limited "original spec" run with Lace Sensors?

I agree with you. Some fresh new colors would be nice.

I don't have to worry about that much. I have a 2001 Candy Green EC Strat with the Lace Sensors.

I have a 2000 black one. I would like to get another and unblock the tremolo on it. So I'd have one that is stock and blocked and the other I could whammy away on. I just want some better colors to choose from. I guess if it never happens I would go for a white one.

The colours you're looking for are "unauthorized".

Daphne Blue and EC Grey were exclusive finishes for the 2010 LTDs only and cannot be offered as standard colour options.

There were EC Strats in Taos Turquoise in the late 1980s made exclusively for Clapton himself, but only very few were made.

Candy Green was discontinued after Eric's own request.

That said, as well as your customary and valuable historical reviews, it's obvious, from the OP's remarks, that he'd like to see some limited re-authorization to liven things up for a time. What he's also saying to the company is "Hey look!" "I've got some money burning a hole in my pocket, and this is what I'm looking for".

Need I remind YOU of YOUR extreme interest in seeing an ECP Red guitar. :?:  Would you care venture a guess at what the demand would be for a guitar in THAT finish :?: :!:

Personally, I'm of the opinion that nothing past is cast in stone and that Fender will do what ever the hell it wants to if a buck can be made.

Yes I aware that the colors I mentioned are "unauthorized" and that they were limited or discontinued. My point was that the standard colors have been available for a very long time. While they are fine wouldn't it be nice to freshen up the color choices? I'm sure Fender could ask EC. They seem to work with him on an ongoing basis. Somebody in Artist relations has his phone number. :)
ZZDoc is correct I'd love to get a new one but I also like to get a color that is more interesting to me. I also have a feeling some new colors would be interesting to other players as well. Maybe it won't happen but I sure hope it does.
Let's face it Fender does special runs, limited editions, etc. of many of their products. I'm just hoping they might do something similar with the standard EC model.

He was at the peak of his powers, the band lineup he formed in the late 1980s/early 1990s was the second best formation after the first Cream era in the mid-to-late 1960s!

I would have to agree. I was lucky enough to see him live during this period. The band was incredible and Eric was just killin' it.

Those great tones were courtesy of the Cornish rack and Soldano Super Lead Overdrive piggyback amps.

This equipment defined the Journeyman era.

Chromeface has soft spot in his heart for that Soldano system. I wish you could have been with me and Kong when we checked it out at the Bohnam's auction preview.

Though I'm a huge fond of the late 1980s/early 1990s stuff, I also like the current gear he uses today! :D :P

Agreeee totally... up to the un-bolded bit  1994-1997 was number 1 for me, and I preferred 2005 Cream to 60s Cream. I really struggle to enjoy the original Cream live gigs. There, I've said it!

The post-1994 period can be considered as the '57 Twin era as Eric decided to return to his roots, although we've seen him fooling around a pair of Blonde Vibro-Kings, a Cornell Custom 80 and a Dumble Overdrive Special.

It was around this time he began stringing his Strats with heavier gauge strings in order to achieve a thick, throaty sound.
