Thanks for all the replies.
I don't really want to upgrade a Mexican (thanks for the suggestion though.) How much would used American standards (in good condition) be? Some people mentioned an Eric Clapton model, (aren't those like 2000-3000) are there any other American models I could buy used?
I'm playing through a blues junior and I'm happy with it. (at least for now)

Honestly I have seen them go for 500- 800 on ebay. 600-700 on average , but some as low as 500 in great shape.

You gotta go out, try EVERY suggestion made here + a few more.

Buy as much Strat as you can afford. Amps are another story and another day, they're not nearly so individual as a guitar.

You'll know when you've happened on the right guitar, no matter what anyone else says or thinks.

It's great to seek out experienced advice, but in the end, you'll be saddled with a guitar, not us. Make sure it's the one you want.

Then, play away !!
