Do I have to cut the pick guard openings for double coil humbuckers? Might be better off buying a new pick guard as well.

My reason is I want pickups where I can adjust the height of the pole pieces. The original equiipments are badly set and are not adjustable.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

regards,

Yes, you will have to make the hole bigger to put a bigger item in it.

What is the problem that adjusting the pole pieces will fix?

Hi

The pole on the Top E string pickup magnet is set about a 0.1 inch lower than the B string. Its confirmed by the low output of the top E. My understanding is the heights are not adjustable so I want to change them to ones that are adjustable so I can normalize the output of each string.
DiMarzios are adjustable and my thought is to change the bridge pickup to one of those humbuckers. I hope I made myself clear.

regards,

You can get a Dimarzio Super Distortion S or a Seymour Duncan JB jr.
They both will fit right into the bridge position of your pickguard no mods.
