What you have there is a pristine example of a Fender Standard Stratocaster made in the US. I have one exactly the same from 1988 in gun metal blue but with a LOT of dings and scratches and missing paint.

Some people see the large Fender logo and assume these are Mexican, this is not the case, your guitar is a definite US Strat.

Not had, have! I bought this from new, had it 25 years and it's probably going to be buried with me. Stock apart from a Seymour Duncan replacement bridge pickup, the original developed a really nasty microphonic squeal.

It's been 20 years, not sure I can remember that far back! Although I seem to recall it's a Seymour Duncan SSL-1

They make some pretty cool Strat pickups for sure.
The store owner was talking to me about Antiquity models yesterday.
I have tried the Jazz JB set. They came in used Ibanez Giger I installed Dimarzios in.
I then stuck the Duncans in another guys Epiphone Les Paul they sounded cool.
I would like to hear his Texas Antiquity Strat pickup sometime.
If someone buys it I will lol.

Headstock just screams late 80s/early 90s Fender USA. Compare with my 88, it's identical ...

It looks right to me. Best way to find out is to take the pick guard off and see if there is a "swimming pool" pickup route (a big rectangle where the pickups go).

Am. Std. are great instruments and worth every penny. Finding one that looks that good is not impossible. Rememeber, Fender has gotten pretty good with their paint formulas.

My '87 Strat Plus started out in gunmatel blue with rosewood finger board. The original owner stripped the paint off and stained it a golden brown. I had to remove the trem cover to find the original color. You are making me miss my old Strat something bad.

You, um...want to..um, say part with that guitar, would you?

OK... OK... Only a Fool tries to stand up to a Tsunami !!

I remove all reservation !!

I agree... it's genuine !

It's a beautifully preserved example... WELL DONE YOU !!

Enjoy it !! But also try to preserve it best as you can !!

Afterall, we're merely temporary custodians of such Fine Instruments.

When the time comes, try to pass it along in as near as good a shape as you found it !!

cheers!

The strat you see in the pictures is gone

First the body began to split and I bought a new body
Then my friend wanted the neck so I sold it to get a Am Special maple neck
Basically I wanted to build a tribute to my 1976 Strat the first one I ever owned.
So that's the story Friends all over town have different parts its gone.
