agh! i see now.. the diagram wasnt rly clear. It obviously shows it now but only after realizing what the diagram wanted to delineate.

So My question is, I accidently used the space on my pot closest to that "lug" for the ground wire to the tremolo claw.

Can I solder a Wire to that Lug and then solder the wire to the volume pot?

or do you recommend removing the tremolo ground wire from the kettle, bending the lug back into the kettle and finding another spot for the tremolo ground wire?

Donny to the rescue!
Most people use the black for ground and white for hot not that it matters!
BTW when I have to lift the guard on a two point trem guitar particularly one with locking tuners is just loosen the strings take off the rear plate and remove the springs then carefully lift and remove the bridge to one side. With carefully jiggling this can be done and saves mucking about trying to reattach the strings. Just be careful not to dent the guitar or kink the strings.
Either way works of course so the method I have described may not work for you... :D

Hey that's funny :)
I do that on both my Strats I just pop the trem springs and lift the bridge out too.
Its superfast and lots of times on the Floyd it goes right back to tune.
I have to loosen the strings like you said on my Standard.
Good point :)

Added the wire and it seems like the guitar is tip-top now.
Thanks for all your help!

So excited now, these pickups sound infinitely better than the N3s. I cant believe Fender even makes the N3s, they sound like generic humbuckers that come off an entry level Ibanez! These pickups sound like they have so much soul!

I put real singles in my American Deluxe as well.
Real single coils just have a sound no stack humbucker can get.
Glad you are happy.
