Just bought a 1995 MIM strat from a pawn shop. I could not resist the price of $180., but not sure it's all strat. The tuners don't say fender on them and appear they may be from a squire bullet. The serial numbers on the neck match 1995 MIM strat. The saddles on the bridge don't say fender and are flate or flat style. Did they come stock like this? Also does the body itself say anything about fender or serial numbers? Even under the pick guard I don't see anything. What's the difference between a squire body and strat? Not sure what I have got. Body and neck look just like all pics online of MIM strats?? Ok thank for those posts on adding pics. The head stock does not say squire anywhere. Nor does it look as if someone took the name off. The neck has a small gap in pic. I think someone put a strat neck on a squire body. Thanks for checking it out.

Yeah, it looks like a Squier (note the pickguard screw pattern).

Ok thanks,

Well too bad I learned after the fact. I had an American Strat, but traded for SG. Then I missed that Strat sound. Well guess I will sell it, take a hit and get a real one.

thanks

It's probably an MIM "Squier Series" with the little "Squier Series" decal scratched off the ball end of the headstock. From that brief period circa 1994-95 when Fender was making Squiers at the Ensenada plant while they were sorting out Asian suppliers.

As you might expect they are worth Squier prices - $180 was probably a bit on the high side; it seems like $150 is more in-line with the value.

I have one in white, decent player for the price. The neck is actually quite good, pickups are pretty loud, not the best sound but I've heard, kinda bland and the hardware is flaky but the Squier Series are somewhere in between MIM and imported Squiers I guess.
