Too hard to answer. The classic strat has been around so long with varying degrees of quality.

If I absolutely answer I'd have to say today's American Standard is consistenly a finer instrument.

And between an American Standard and an American Standard HSS?... what's the main diference between this two?, i know the pickups, but i'm talking about sound

It's a big difference in tone, but if it's good or not is up to the listener.

I'm partial to strats from the 90's. I've had a few and they're all solid, very consistent, and I love the necks, the parts, the tone switch, the pots, and that time period was very significant for me in general.

Having an old classic would be nice, and a brand new one is always nice. For me, I'm happy filling my collection with the awesome strats in the 90's.

I have a strat with a factory installed HB and I really like it... super clean but a different sound... sort of like a strat sound but then again, quite different!

i own a 1990 and a 2002 american standards and i have played the new 2008 american standard and i prefer my 1990 and 2002 over the new 2008. it seems to me the new 2008 has a week tone compared to the 1990 and 2002. i wouldnt buy one.
