If I had an early 90's Jeff Beck Strat and there were serious neck issues, could I buy a new neck and replace the bad one? I mean a new neck from Fender?

Thanks in advance.

I've never encountered a "bad" neck on a Jeff Beck Strat, are you sure it's not just in need of a truss rod adjustment?

I am buying one used and the owner says it needs a set up. Which is fine, I am just erring on the side of caution. An early 90's neck can be replaced no? Even if it is a different profile?

It'll fit but it will severely devalue a JB Strat. You'll be missing the roller nut too. Best try ebay for a genuine replacement, I doubt you'll get one from Fender without shipping the old neck back to them.

Hello cwgatti: if it turns out that the neck is actually damaged or broken then Fender can replace it on a strictly like-for-like basis. Here's how that is done:

http://www.fender.com/support/articles/ ... ed-online/

Since you would not be the original owner of this JB Strat it will not be covered by warranty. Therefore, a replacement would be at your expense.

And, as GilgaFrank says, the current JB Strat neck has Fender's SLR roller nut, not the long discontinued Wilkinson nut of the original, which some prefer (including Beck himself). Perhaps the dealer who did the neck swap would also switch out the nuts for you if you wanted, though it's far from a straight one-for-one replacement, so it would certainly mean significant additional expense.

If you need further info on all that, contact Consumer Relations at consumerrelations@fender.com .

But most likely the guitar just needs setting up and it'll be fine.

Good luck - C

Thanks Ceri,
I am all over the map on this purchase. But I will get one for my collection. No doubt. When I do, I will annoy everyone with pics and questions. Like a new parent!
