You keep writing that, but it isn't true. There is a difference between the hardware. The woods aren't the same quality, for example many MIM bodies are a lot of pieces glued up.

The fit and finish do seem to be getting to the same levels.

+1 on the hardware issue. I must have a dozen MIM trem bridges in my junk box, replaced by MIA vintage-spec parts on all of my guitars and most of my clients' as well.

The lumber used for MIM Strats with transparent or sunburst finishes is generally pretty well matched by grain texture and inherent color -- they're usually three piece bodies but I've seen a few center-seamed two-piece examples as well. The opaque-finished custom-color bodies are a crap-shoot. Three-, four-, and even five-piece bodies are common.

I've never seen a bad finish or a defective paint job on the higher-end MIM's, ie: the Classic Series and the Ensenada-made signature models. Aside from the different color and clearcoat formulations, these Mexican Strats are finished as nice as their MIA counterparts.

We do know that some aspects of MIM manufacture begin in the US before shipping to Mex for completion. Though quality guitars are built by/for Fender in Mexico, Japan, Indonesia and China they are different from the US built guitars, even though many players might be satisfied/prefer the overseas product. We all recognize that Fender is NOT the only mfr building product out of the states. There are some brands which are NOT USA build at all.

Also the lower end imports have inferior electronics. Again not so bad with the classic seies mentioned above. My roadhous strat(MIM) also has a nice set of texas specials. run of the mill MIM standards lack a bit sonicaly with the pickups. Still nice to have price points people can afford.

I don't believe the OP is being at all sincere with this thread.

His liberal use of inflammatory adjectives points to an intention to use this thread simply for America Bashing, nothing more.

IIRC, he also introduced a thread wherein he stated that as an experienced guitar player, all Fenders (USA and ROW) sounded the same, were indistinguishable.

But that thread directed most of his anger/synicism toward a German buyer whom he berated.

Don't Feed The Troll !!

cheers!

it just seems like an insult to the other countries. even though they have the same quality rules and the same materials they're just not as good, because the almighty america is just better :(

Hmmmmm.....Sounds like his government's foreign aid application was rejected.

lol.

question, do you think if i put a blindfold on you, you'd be able to identify a 400 mexican made stratocaster over a 4000 USA made stratocaster with the same pickups?

Yes, plain and simple. I have a Mexican Strat, and it is fun to play but there are glaring differences in the build and tone. Now, I am not saying it is a bad guitar by any means, the neck on it is great!!! But it does not come close to the tone of its American counterpart, the body is veneered and the pickups are weak at best and even though it states it has the Texas specials in it I would question the quality of them. And this was not the inexpensive MIM Strat, it cost me about $500.

Both of my Teles are great guitars, but my Squier feels NOTHING like my American Fender.

I agree with the American Bashing I think that his number as I read OP's post
My opinion is let him buy the Chinese copies I own an Epiphone Chinese copy SG my first entry level, did not know if I would stick to playing but 4 years later I purchased an American Stranded 2012 fat 50s wow big difference when I was trying them out, I picked up some Giby SG's while I was looking (still wanted some single coils) and realized what a POS my first Git was even with the Classic 57 and 57 plus and new tuners that I installed I still love my first guitar though even if it is a POS
