If i were you i'd get fender mexican strat, in light blue with a maple fingerboard glossed. they're beautiful. and remember, all you have to do is switch out the pickups to any kind you like and you have a different strat. they're all the same pretty much apart form the pickups (tone wise). the whole "this wood and that wood gives a richer/smoother" tone is bullsh*t. They're built using the material's that are cheapest to mass produce and sold to them by the lowest bidder.
And the wood barely has any effect on the sound of the guitar when it's runnig through an amp. You're looking for a nice neck, not too heavy, and pickups and amp combo that give you the tone you like. So my advice, get a cheap strat, switch out the pickups, and you have a 2000 dollar strat right there tone wise.

The placebo effect is STRONG in the guitar world.

An American Standard is a great Strat.
Its the greatest guitar ever designed.
Like Doc said find it used if you can.

Could be worse he could be on facebook lol.
I like you Nathan, I like your fire.

I don't get it. Your mom is going to drop a grand or two on a Marshall half stack for you and you are talking about ripping apart some old budget amp and making it into a head? A good Marshall isn't cheap. Don't waste her money on a MG half stack.
