Dittos with some of the Ford-Australia products.

I would've bought one of these in a heartbeat......

A pity that they didn't built them for export.

Oh Yea... the Aussie Falcons were great cars, esp. the XC (and top of the heap Cobra).

They enjoyed quite a bit of racing success as well.

And if memory serves, it was also the chassis used for Mel Gibson's Road Warrior car.

cheers!

Indeed it was. It took me decades and the advent of the internet (thank you, Algore!) to pin it down.

Well Arjay,

Here is a 1978 Ford Falcon XC Cobra, #98/400, fully restored over 9 years.

Being beyond the EPA's 25-year exemption, it's fully legal to import, license and drive !

Great upside potential !

Maybe you need to unload some of those old Strats and Amps you've been hoarding all these years...

cheers!

If they hadn't put the bloody steering wheel on the wrong side I might consider it.

Oh the humanity!

And why, pray tell, would I need to unload anything to be able to afford a vehicle purchase?

The steering wheel is an easy fix... just drive on the other side of the road !!

So far as unloading anything, I never meant to imply...

cheers!

Hey Arjay, seen this?

Not that I'm into Falcons*.

*Ford Vs. General Motors Holden can a serious thing here Down Under, so I won't commit to being on either side of that fence.

I have talked about this before but it apparently bears repeating.

How many of us can afford a $1500.00 guitar as our first one? What would happen when a 11 year old goes to mom and dad and wants to start playing electric guitar and asks them to shell out $1500.00? Many 11 year old's would be disappointed.

Thanks to Fender and other companies creating different models in different places anyone can find a guitar they can play or start playing on.

In my own case, my first guitar/amp was a Starcaster setup from Costco. I still have that guitar and will never part with it because it allowed me to get started down a road I always wanted to go down, but never could justify the cost of beginning the trip.

I know EVERYONE would like to have a one off custom design built by a master luthier at the Custom Shop. However none of us need one, hell even Jeff Beck or Eric Clapton don't need one.

From Starcaster I "graduated" to a "real" guitar, a Standard Strat. Then because I was sticking with my new hobby, my wife got me an American Standard last year.

The entire guitar playing and music community should be grateful for the MIM's and MIT's out there. They are allowing practically EVERYONE to at least look into playing guitar. Who knows, the next Doug Gilmour may be sitting in his/her room right now learning the Cm scale on a 75.00 "piece of crap" guitar.

Ford Australia are about to completely cease production of the Falcon in a couple years. Actually, Ford Australia will soon cease to exist, period. Same with the Holden Commodore.. Though I suspect Holden will be made in the east. It's about cost cutting from the American companies and growing USA exports to Australia.

Speculation is that USA made imports are going to sold domestically, however i don't see that going to work. Considering Australia prides itself on domestic product and not even Japanese imports do well there. Companies like Toyota, Kia, Hyundai Honda, Nissan etc.. Will end up being the car of choice. If American cars are going to sold in our market, at least they have to be up to par with the demands Australian consumers have and be competitive with what comes from Japan, both price and quality.

Yeah one is the real thing and one is an authorized copy.
The American one costs more than double not because of just the American workers wages.
It cost double because you get a quality wood with a better urethane finish.
An American set of quality pickups and an American quality steel bridge.
You get American quality steel frets.
All assembled by some of the very finest American craftsmen.
You get a case and a strap a cord.
Far superior to Mexican polyester finish with Mexican made pickups and frets.
Made in Taiwan bridge and non staggard tuners. No Micro tilt system and no 22nd fret.
Just a cheap wanna be Mexican Stratocaster.
Better to buy used USA than to buy Mexican I say.
