The pickups sound absolutely AMAZING. I will do a full review when I finish the project, I started playing more and realized the volume knob doesnt quite work properly.... ugh, so frustrating, those screws taking on and off really kill me!

I made a new thread to try to diagnose here -> viewtopic.php?f=6&t=90107

You guys are not going to believe this.

So the original reason why I'm switching out the N3s is because we were doing a recording session and we had the AM DLX and we had a Squier, we started vamping on both and realized the Squier sounded better.

So I was embarassed that this $100 strat out plays the 1100 strat. I got the Custom 69s and dropped them into the Am DLX, at first it was amazing. They sound great! but it was relative to the N3s.

I'm doing an A/B from the AM DLX with the new pickups to the same squier.... AND THE SQUIER STILL SOUNDS BETTER!!

Im kind of pissed now, I've dropped $1400 at least now, on the Am DLX and the Squier still beats it, IMO.

The squier just sounds like it has more tone to it, glassier, meaner, more color on the sound spectrum. I'm not sure how to describe it.

The action is a little higher and the body is a lighter on the squier so it could be that I'm playing the guitar with more "umph", thus affecting the tone. (using a heavier hand b/c of the action and throwing it with a little more attitude since it is lighter).

Now i'm not sure what to do.

I was thinking about selling the Am DLX in the beginning and starting over but now that I've swapped the pickups out the guitar probably has little to no resale value.

Any suggestions?

If you still have the old pickups etc just put them back in and sell it if you care to.
I am sure someone would buy it no problem.
I don't believe the resale would drop that dramatically sure you would lose some value :D
