I know you are looking for something other than Dimarzio, but I put one of these in my MIM Blacktop Strat and I love it!

A guitar shop nearby is selling a modified USA Strat with "TV Jones" pickups. I'd never heard of them until I had a go on this guitar a few days ago...man, what a sound! Very unique...in a good way. As you know, it's impossible to get a demo sound from words, all I can say is that they are worth trying at least. :)

Yeah, that's virtually exactly like it except for the colour (lake placid blue). I thought it looked really meaty!
The shop selling them is this one: www.guitarcentre.net.au/
They've got a few that they've modified for sale.
Here's a modified Cabronita Tele:

They have a lot more in the shop than what is pictured on their website and some of their combinations are really interesting.
:D

Hell....that's way before TV Jones. Made in Brooklyn, home of the Dodgers and Nathan's Hotdogs. Our front man played a Tennessean of that vintage. 8). Long time passing. Long time gone.

This could also be an Andy Fairweather Lowe Gretschocaster.

+1 except Andy's own guitar sports a tuxedo rosewood neck and a host of rotary switches. Used during the last shows of EC's One More Car world tour (November-December 2003); it was during this time Nathan East pulled out his 6-string BBNE6 onstage (and the first debuts for Bellezza Nera, if my memory serves).

I suppose the shot was taken in 1964. He didn't picked up a Strat until late 1969.

Apparently he decided to bring back the early-to-mid 1960s looks 40 years later. :|
