Guys,
I need some Strat Opinions. Now, Im not looking for the,"If it aint a single coil, it aint fender" mentality. lol.
I have a 2012 FSR AZTEC GOLD Strat Deluxe that I removed the N3's with S-1 switch from, and replaced with a Dimarzio Injector Loaded Pickguard! Love at first strum!

Now, I also have a 2013 Tri-Burst Strat Deluxe, and I am debating some loaded pickguards. The reason I want to change my strats from the N3's is I come from a 10 year affair with Gibson LP's and the Humbucker tone, and I want some of the that Humbucker depth with the Single Coil Bite.

So, I am wondering what you guys think about the SEYMOUR DUNCAN LOADED PICKGUARDS? Specifically the EVERYTHING AXE LOADED GUARD. I could just go with another Dimarzio loaded guard, but I thought for my other strat I'd look for some :D thing a tad different?
So, just throw out your thoughts on these guards or maybe some other laoded guards you've experienced. Thanks for ops.

All strung out,
jasonk931

EMGs are active and require a battery.

The body must be routed for the PCB governing the EXG and SPC circuits.

I like the tone of those, but I don't want active pickups. Thanks for link though.

Negatory :!: That pre-wired pickguard requires no additional modifications to the body. There's no 'board' like the Clapton. It's all in the pots. The battery can be installed in the control cavity or in the trem spring cavity removing one of the springs for spacing. At the least, one might have a tech rout a cutout in the wall of the trem cavity for the 9V battery ala the Clapton, but you can't do that with a guitar which has a 'swimming pool' rout. I've been all over this issue, years ago. Remember :?:

If you're fond of boutique pickups, check out the V60LP pickup set from JST.

Rothstein sells loaded pickguards with them.

This one has my attention bigtime right now. Love P90's, Love Humbucks, and love the single coil ability. Seems to be a no brainer! Anyone tried these pups before?

The whole assembly comes with a 3-way selector.

As the P-Rails humbuckers are splittable it's possible to use a super 5-way switch to split/tap them for getting a nice single-coil sound.

Have you looked at the Seymour Duncan Stacks?
I installed one of those and was actually surprised how real and straty it sounded.
Im not much of an EMG fan I had a strat set at sounds synthetic to me.

Yo, Jason!! It's definitely a 'brainer'. Go to the Premier Guitar website, go into archives and find the three part article entitled 'The Psychology of Tone'. A must read for all 'holy grail of tone questors'.

Great article, and I also found out I have a childhood trauma, and some unresolved anger issues with the bus driver from 5th grade! lol
No, for real, very eye opening article and mega informative.
I took a look at the Seymour Duncan Stacks, and that is a great sounding set as well.

Has anyone here played the Prails in person. Videos sound good, but wonder if you guys have test drove them.

I found these guys a year or so ago on eBay, you can't buy the parts and wire the pickguard yourself for less than you can buy it from them. Check out http://www.twilightguitars.com

They have every color guard you can imagine and you choose your covers and knobs at no extra charge. They use vintage cloth covered wiring and all Fender parts.

Can't beat mint green and Aged white on an arctic white Strat. :D
