First time post. I have a 2004 American deluxe fat Stratocaster and I would like to setup my tremolo so that I can pull back on the bar and push down on the bar. I can do both but when I pull up on the bar the tremolo springs fall off. Sure hope someone has the answer. I bought all new springs. Still don't work. I would like all five springs on. Thanks

If your springs come off when you pull your remolo arm is because spring have not enough tension to keep them in place .

Many spring go with bigger string gauge.

Smaller gauge need less spring .

1- You just have too many spring for you need .

2- Or you tremolo need a set up . It is not in the middle of is range.
Look at your guitar , the space between the back of the bridge and the guitar body must be close to 1/8 inches . You need a set up if you have " more" than that.

Pictures always help.

I would start by examining where and how the springs fall off. Take off the rear trem cover plate and operate the trem until the springs fall off while looking directly at the springs.

Which end comes off first, claw or block? Are the springs in good condition? Do the loops and bent ends engage their anchors properly? Is the claw in good condition? What about the holes in the block?

Pictures always help.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

OK everybody I got it fixed. went on the fender site and believe it or not they had the answer. This strat has a two point tremolo. pull back on the bar until the tremolo is against the body, run the two screws all the way down, tune up to pitch, turn the claw screws until you get 1/8 on the back of the tremolo plate, keep tuning until the pitch is right. I have five springs on. Works Great. Thanks to all for help.
