Local craigslist has a mint 2007 Candy Apple red American Standard FS/FT with case for $725. That isn't an incredible deal but i feel it is fair for both buyer and seller. What would your opinions be?

The price is fairly decent if you find the guitar plays well. With an asking price of $725, the seller probably expects someone would offer $700 out the door.

I'd go as high as $685... no more !

There's nothing rare or special about it.

cheers!

... Or a Vintage 'V' neck, or Vintage Tuners, or hand-beveled pup posts, or thin Nitro finish, or single-ply pickguard, etc., etc...

I'm not trying to be smug :? ... just saying what I would pay for that guitar.

I do my research and then set a price I believe it's worth. And, I get my price or I walk away and find another one for my price.

These guitars aren't rare... Fender ground them out like link sausages. The Buyer has all the power w/ off-the-shelf guitars.

If you absolutely gotta have it or believe there won't be another CAR out there, then go for it.

But in a few weeks, you'll see another for sale and likely in my price range.

cheers!

Neither are guitars with the features listed above. Noone asked once about the rarity of an American Standard.

If it's a good playing guitar, then $700 is worth the price of admission.

Lightning...I would have to agree this is not a bad price, not the best I have ever seen. Depends on your area, I have seen these around here for $650 in good shape with case, but I have also seen them go for $800-900 in other areas of the country. Your right there are plenty out there, but sometimes you pick up a guitar and it talks to you, then a $50 or $100 difference is worth it.

Just sayin...

Its a fair price, ... the best price i got for a strat was from an elderly gentleman who sold it for 600 just to make space in the basement.
