I bought this guitar a a couple of years ago as a Lite Ash Stratocaster. I was looking at the serial numbers for Korean strats yet it doesn't seem to follow any of the patterns. Is this guitar genuine? Here are some pics.

Welcome, we should reduce the size of photos;
but it seems that only Squier manufactured in Korea!
Other than me here will give you more information but it is not for me, not a Fender.

something is out of place with this, for a start the machine heads are wrong unless it is an Asian made squire then it is correct.
I don't see a serial number so can you post a photo of it for us... hang on I see it now.. man those pic's are way to big can you make them a bit smaller for us?

And yeah Korean made.

That's the sad thing, there have been Korean Japanese and Mexican Fender Stratocasters.
Its disgusting.
Those should all be Squires

Gibson got that part right.
They don't let anything but an American Made Gibson be called a Gibson
They also sub divide they're message boards to Gibson USA and Epiphone.
That way people that own real Les Pauls don't have to listen to people with copy Epihones,
talk about how they saved money and have a guitar that's just as good. ;)

Yeah its not america. The head stock says made in Korea so I know that for sure. But I was looking at serial numbers for guitars made in korea and I can't see any that start like the one on the headstock. So is it conclusive? Its a fake? Not even korea based fender?

Sorry for the pics I'm doing this from my phone and can't reduce them.

Anyway I can date it? The serial isn't following any of the established sequences I find online.
