Well, I just scored a used one for $50 thanks to ebay.

I really wanted to get a FENDER, But I heard many things about SQUIRE. Apparently the only real reason for a price difference is the Coat of paint and Fretboard surface is just a rougher finish then a FENDER.

How true is this ?

Also $50 not bad for this ? Bought Not Even Slinky ERNIE BALL Strings to place on it when I get it.

I got quite small hands and fingers so this VS My GIBSON LP Studio should be a huge difference.

Go play a real Fender guitar. If you can't tell the difference you should stay with the Bullet. :?

There are a lot more differences than just paint finish and fretboard finish. However, if you are happy with it then that should be the end of it. Depending on the condition, $50 is a fine price for a Strat, even a Squier.

That's what I figured, It just has a small paint chip the volume knobs are loose, no big deal to me.

Simply wanted something light weight & easier on the hands.

I am just doing grungy punk rock so this should sound decent enough without breaking the bank. I know my chords I just wanted something easier to play.

+1k !!

Realizing that everyone has to live within limits, I'm a firm believer in buying as much instrument as you can afford, even if you have to reach a little.

There are several reasons for this:

They play better, look better, feel better, sound better, stay in tune longer, and they retain most of their value.

Each of my guitars was carefully selected, some after a long search.

My FSR Am. Vtg. Ltd. Ed. '57 Stratocaster is now selling used for more than I bought it for New. Same with my Telebration Empress Telecaster, my Heritage H-535, My Martin accoustic, and my new FSR Custom Telecaster HH.

That means that I get to own them and play them for FREE so long as I take care of them... and I do.

One of my biggest issues with Squiers, and one a search of this Forum will confirm, is that virtually EVERYONE who owns and praises their Squier begins by stating all the modifications they made to it - Tuners, Pickups, Bridges, Nuts, Pots, Saddles, etc. to where they finally ended up with a decent guitar.

These mods often add up to more than simply buying a Fender to begin with. Plus, no real value is added - try to sell them and you're still just selling a used Squier in the minds of most of your prospective buyers.

Of course in the end, it's your guitar and your cash. If you're happy, that ends the debate.

But there may come a time when you'd wished you had invested in a better quality guitar in the first place, it may actually prove cheaper in the long run to do so.

cheers!

True, the finish and fretboard of a $5000 Custom Shop Strat are a little better than that of your $50 Bullet.

C'mon guys...let's not bag on the guys choice here. Of course a good quality American made guitar from one of the big three is going to maintain more of its value, lets not bang on someone for their choice here.

And yes, many posts here start with a Squier that has been modified with new pickups, tuners, bridge, saddles, etc., but the modders have to start somewhere...I didn't start my amp refurbs with a Tweed Twin, so lighten up, its only $50!

Did you by any chance copy-paste that straight from eBay?

Fender is not Squier, a Bullet is certainly not a Stratocaster.

Totally Cool.

Yeah As long this serves my purpose. Simply wanted a Lightweight Small FENDER decent tone without paying out the nose. This SQUIRE should be fine unlike the horrible Fender Copies I seen in pawn shops.
