One of the most enjoyable parts of getting a new guitar is waiting for it to arrive! Well...then there is taking it out of the box too!

The waiting IS the hardest part.

Right now it's 10:35am here and Stonehart will be at the Rockshop down in Christchurch picking up his Strat.

Judging by the brilliant weather here, I don't think it's going to be the only thing he will be doing :)

Summer is just around the corner

Oh yeah it is a hot clear day down here and I just got back from the Rockshop..........

***Click.. hissss*** the sound of a beer being opened.

Oh man what a sweetheart of a guitar!!! The Fat 50's sound so warm and sweet like honey.
The neck is absolutely stunning and the whole feel is incredible.

So suffice to say I am now the proud owner of a new Strat

The only thing is the setup is wrong for me as the action is a little low for me (I do lots of bends as I play a hell of a lot of floyd), so I have sent it to the luthier I use to have things set up for me. Believe me it was hard to make that choice as I wanted to take her home today... but best to start the right way and have him look over her to see if I missed anything...... which I wont have and Fender are producing very fine work these days.

Only thing I want to do is put locking tuners and strap locks on.
No Mods! LOL that will be tough for me.

I want this case here

http://www.fender.com/store/cases/deluxe-strattele-case-black-w-orange-plush-interior/

These are my strats now and no I couldn't leave them alone but they are amazing.

The fat 50's simply kick $@! and I am still exploring combinations and tone settings...But yes I am going to mod it a little as I want the stealth switch to give me the extra pickup combinations that you get in the Gilmour strat.

Oh and a black pick guard of course because Black Strats look hell hot that way

:-)

I know right? :) Currently I have the Fender lone star pearl white on the hybrid Highway 1 with black pickups in it looks cool no photo yet. I will snap one before I go back to the black one with aged white pictured.
The black one I run a 3 way switch wired original vintage a 89 American standard neck, Hot Alnico 5 mod middle, and a Fender USA Hot Rod Humbucker bridge.

Black Strats rock! :

I used to have the switch but never used it as the neck/bridge combo never really worked for me - just didn't see where it was useful. When I changed to DiMarzio pups I never had the switch installed on the new guard....

Damn black strats look sexy! Nice strats man.

Fact is I am happy with the Fat 50's but I am having to chose the songs I play the new strat on carefully as my rig was setup to deal with the EMG-SA set and they have a hotter out put than the 50's. So I am slowly tweaking things to suite the new strat in the family.
