They sound like any other Mexican made HSS Standard Stratocaster, because that's what they are. You are paying extra for the finish. Not worth it in my book.

I don't think they are a bad guitar, just nothing special about them.

Play them both, only you can decide what you like. It doesn't matter what someone else thinks. I think the mim strats are better, but that is just my opinion, others my think differently.

The Mexican made paisley would be a better guitar than the Chinese made modern player.

I tried that HSH and I found it massively underwhelming. It didn't sound great and the action and neck on the one I played was pretty poor.

The Squire vintage modifieds I have tried feel better and the Mexican blacktop is a lot nicer than the modern player.

Have a look at these

Not yet although I am planning on giving one a ago, I'm not a big fan of the deluxes though as I don't like the compound radius necks.

What I really want is the used Big Apple that a store near me has I just don't want to pay the £1,000 they want for it.

A HSH or HH American Special or Standard would take some resisting

I've yet to see one up close, but I do like the looks of them.
