The first time I tested out a strat; I noted the position of the 5 way switch and thought, " this could be a problem".
Sometimes I'll hit that switch by accident & move it when I don't want to. Seems that Fender would have moved that SOB long ago?
My question to all of you is.....am I the only one that has this $@!&*?
If there's enough of you who agree with me; perhaps Fender might consider a design update.

Hi davestro2000,

I used to hit the switch sometimes when playing hard. Then I learned to tuck my fingers under my hand.

In forty-five years of playing the Strat, neither the 3-way nor the 5-way switch has ever given me problems.

Sounds like a personal issue to me......

In the very beginning I used to whack the switch. A minor hand adjustment and that solved the problem.

You will overcome the issue, in about 10 or so years of playing the thing.

Yeah I had the same issue, I am a fist time user of a strat bought in Feb of this year, now that it is Oct. I am not having this issue as much (notice the word much) it does still happen from time to time but I have adjusted for the most part and you will also in time. I sometimes think a slide switch would be better but as you can see by the other posters here, this problem is not effecting the majority. As I started with an SG the controls are just a further back and it is taken some time to get used to it, but I sure like the chime of the strat, dont get me wrong I still like the dark tone of the SG also

This is the 60th year Fender has been making Strats, it's very unlikely that will happen.

I think the Strat may not be the best guitar for the OP.

+1

Perhaps a Jaguar or a Mustang......something with slider switches.
