This Sunday at church, I had a chance to play my 2000 Candy Green EC Strat. This was my 3rd Strat, but hadn't played in a while. I really sounded amazing and reminding me why I got it in the first place.

As many of will notice from my profile photo, I've been playing my Tele for the most part, but I still love my old EC Strat.

What a great instrument.

Up until about a year ago, I would have agreed with you, but I've become very attached to my Tele. It's a versitile guitar. It have 5 different pickup combonations, a 20db volume boost, a mid-range scoop and great tone. I can get the following sounds out of this guitar:
Cream era Clapton
Blind Faith era Clapton
'70s era Clapton
Police Andy Summers
a Frishmen pickup tone
Jazz, Blues, Heavy Metal, Rock, Punk and Country.

For full discloser, I can't get good:
'80s and '90s era Clapton
a good Strat neck position tone

It's a very handy guitar, but a different beast from the Clapton Strat, which for my money is one of the best Strats ever made.

If you don't mind paris, I've gotta know which Tele model and/or what mods you've done, to get such a versatile instrument?

Thanks, Dan

It's a home built Tele inspired by Andy Aummers' Tele.

Electronics:
SD Jazz Pickup, 5 pickup combonations (pos 1-HB, pos 2- single coil, pos 3- HB & Braodcaster pup, pos 4- neck single coil and bridge, pos 5- bridge), an Afterburner 20db volume boost, a mid-range scoop (1-3 mids remmoved, 5-7 treble, 8-10 bass).

Neck:
Maple neck soft "V" shape
Vintage tuners
vintage frets

Body:
alder
Bridge - Brass

By turning the volume down, turning up the volume boost and scooping out the mid-range, I can get a Fishmen pup tone.

I hope this answers your questions.

Thank You, sounds intriguing, I'm not familiar with a "mid range scoop" as a guitar accessory but I'll know more about it before the sun sets. :)

As far as the relic issue goes, I want to assure you & the rest of the forum, that I don't take it personally if you don't like mine or any other relic-ed guitar, some are really ugly, and most of the good ones are "ugly cute".

To each their own, I just wanted to try something different. :D

Thanks again for the info on the "paris Tele",

- Dan
