Oh boy, I found a pic of the FSR Rootbeer Flake Strat somewhere on the net, and totally fell in love!!! I NEED TO HAVE THIS GUITAR!!!

So please do help me, anybody knows where to find one of these discontinued beauties? Maybe some online stores still got one in stock!

Or maybe, just maybe, someone here was thinking about selling his/her Rootbeer Axe anyway! If so, WILL YOU PLEEEEASE CONTACT ME!

Oh god, I can't live without this guitar anymore! Why didn't I find it in 2010, when is was still in production?

Thanks for your patience :) Please do help, I can't sleep at night, thinking of this guitar keeps me awake all night!

I bet you could find one on eBay with some patience... a search for "FSR stratocaster" or "FSR Flake" will get you headed in the right direction. I actually had the sunfire orange version of this guitar... the finish was flawless and looked pretty sweet.

Sonically, I had trouble connecting to this guitar... I installed Fralin pups (with a Dimarzio HB in the bridge) and the whole guitar just sounded sterile to me. The original pups didn't do it for me either... I ended up selling it eventually. It was a sharp looker though. This video doesn't sound too bad but there was just something I never really liked about this guitar... it could have been the aftermarket neck, the pickups... who knows :?:

I just did a quick search on eBay and I didn't find any but I'd keep looking... one will show up eventually. There are a ton of flake finished teles to be found but they didn't relaease any of those with the rootbeer finish. Good luck in your search!

Yeah, good ole' Ebay :)

Let's wait and see. But still, if anybody around here happens to sell one, do let me know :)

Oh, and that orange one looks nice too! I have a thing for orange guitars, dunno why...

Haha, guess what, as it happens both the Root Beer Sparkle and the Sunfire Orange Sparkle were on offer at Ebay at the same time last week, so there was no way I'd choose one over the other. In the end I got both now!

Haven't got them yet though, one of them comes from the US, which means it'll take a while, considering I'm in Germany...
The other one, the orange one, will be with me in a few days! Can't wait!!! :)

I know, I'm crazy... two at the same time! But hey, it's Christmas :)

Ah yes, get both! A person after my own heart. :D I give this advice often in similar situations, though few take it. Congrats man! Post pics when they arrive.

I shall do that :) It's about time for a group photo anyway, I don't think I've ever gathered all my guitars for a nice group shot. All at once will not be possible, they're too many, but everything Fender (all Strats and Teles) on one pic should be doable :)

Hi everyone, a little while I started this thread, when I first fell in love with a pic of the Rootbeer Flake Strat FSR, I've seen on the net.
So thanks to Ebay one thing led to another, and I ended up buying both the Rootbeer Fake and the Sunfire Orange Flake FSR, because they happened to be on Ebay at the same time.

Since the red one came from overseas, it took some time for it to arrive. But now it's here, and as promised I took some pics for the guitar porn addicts among us :)

Et voila:

So now I've got 4 Strats, 3 MIM and one Levinson Blade. And I'm still checking Ebay for new sexy Strats, insatiable me. Might do a family shot one of these days! In the meantime I'm enjoying my new guitars, that I really didn't need at all :)

Sweet!

What kind of bridge on the orange one? It looks to have some kind of universal mounting holes.

Well observed. I've changed the stock Trem for a Wilkinson WVP6CR, because I don't like trems with a screw-in trem arm. They always seem to get loose over time.

It's got wider holes except for the first on the left, so it fits on most spacings.

I'm not entirely happy with the trem though, cos the small allen screw to tighten the trem arm isn't really working too well. I like how it looks though.

I might go with a Wilkinson VS100 next time (which is more or less what I've got on my old MIM Strat I bought hundreds of years ago), but I was hoping to find a cheaper solution this time.
