Is there an adjustment to get the strings centered on the fretboard? See photo:

1.) make sure the neck is centered in the neck pocket and the neck mount screws are tight.

2.) make sure that the saddles are not skewed toward the treble side of the guitar. This happened to me yesterday... it really had me scared for a moment... then I noticed that the 4,5,6 bridge segments were not parallel with the neck... I pushed rather hard on the high (treble) side of the saddles and they all suddenly snapped into place... perhaps they were hung up underneath? I had just replaced the entire bridge assembly a few days earlier.

Anything else and I'd say take it to a tech. Good luck!

Strataholic has it exactly. Either the neck joint or the bridge has had a really bad knock and gone seriously out of true. If you are not confident how to fix it you must show it to a proper tech (any guitar shop will have one, or point you where to go).

But by all means post another nice detailed picture, this time of the bridge, and I'm sure more useful advice will be forthcoming.

And why not let us see the whole guitar? That promises to be a fine body...

That did the trick! Thank you. I guess I expected a bit better factory set up from an instrument in this price range. The guitar could still probably benefit from a professional set up. As requested, here are a couple more photos of my first Fender.

Hello JWRo,

That is a mighty fine looking axe,
I had one similar about 30 years ago.
Ah the memories.

Best of luck with it.

Cheers.

I didn't even notice this until I checked my bridge... I thought someone was weird after taking off the strings on my guitar to replace the pickguard and I couldn't quite place it. Mine were pretty crooked and the last string was almost off the fretboard :P
