How do I go about ordering a Fender Custom Shoppe neck? I have my Jimmie Vaughan Strat customized except for the neck. I realize that ordering a neck should be as easy as 1-2-3: but I could use advice on ordering protocol to save time, and to get it done right.

The Fender Custom Shop doesn't sell necks or bodies. Some of the pickups they designed are available, but no other Custom Shop parts are available individually - you have to buy whole fully-assembled guitars from them.

If you like everything else about the stock neck, find a luthier and have it refretted. He can change the radius of the fretboard after pulling the frets, then refinish the board after installing the new frets. It would be less expensive than even a used Custom Shop neck.

Other options are used necks (either FCS, American Deluxe, or some other Fender model with a compound radius), or an aftermarket neck like a Warmoth.

FWIW, I see New & Used compound radius necks on ebay all the time. What specs are you looking for? They can be pricey, but if you're looking for Custom Shop then you must be ready for that.

Funny, I just built a "Relic" Partscaster to my own specs and used a NOS Jimmie Vaughan neck. Had to sand the fretboard smooth and refinish and put on Gotoh 510 HAP M tuners. I happen to like the soft V back profile even if it is Mexican made.

I used Satin finish on the fretboard and Gloss on the Headstock. I like that AVRI look.

Don't feel like you have to rush to reply. You have the record at 16 mos, but if you take longer, someone will be here.
