To me it looks like a bad relic job, and it is not taken care of. I give it Two thumbs down.

Thumbs down from me too the fretboard relicing looks TOO fake ( wear doesn't occur right next to the frets ) , so fretboard worn to hell, cig burns on headstock, backplate corners missing or split due to some idiot over tightening the screws, yet bridge saddles immaculate and not one bit of wear over the marker dots at all?
(BTW it needs a bloody good clean)

Why would you do that to a perfectly good guitar?

Hi branertom and welcome to the forum, unfortunately you've picked one of the hot button issues as an entree. The opinions against a relic are pretty strong on here and the other side is a bit less vocal, maybe like myself, allowing to each his own preferences. I think some stock guitars are ugly, some "relics" are beautiful and the opposite is often true as well. All in the eye of the beholder.

I've gotta say that I don't know who Julian Wolf is, a quick search was no help, maybe you can enlighten me. Also, it's impossible to take an opinion on whether it sounds beautiful unless you provide sound clips.

As for the relic part, it all seems to be on the fretboard and the back plate corners, from the pics you presented. Not saying it shouldn't be done that way and it may be more impressive in person. It's a nice looking Strat, what do you know about it?

BTW, the pic below shows my current lineup of Strats, an '03 Am Dlx 2T SB stock, '93 Strat Plus Candy Apple Red restoration and my "Relic" Partscaster w/Jimmie Vaughan Neck, Hwy One body in 3T SB. The Bursts both have a soft V neck, which I prefer, but that modern C on the Plus is nice! They're all perfectly good guitars and I actually prefer the relic, but mostly because of the Amalfitano SP Pickups.

That's my $0.02.
